Scientific staff attestation plays an important role in the activities on organization of science. This issue is dealt with State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles (SCADT). The latter carries out work on awarding the academic staff with academic degrees and titles.

Academic degrees of candidate (Ph.D.) and doctor of sciences are awarded in branches of science in accordance with the list of scientific specialties of the Republic of Belarus.

Academic titles of associate professor (docent) and professor are awarded in the specialty in accordance with the list of specialties, which are assigned to academic titles in the Republic of Belarus.

The degree of Cadidate of Sciences is awarded by Dissertation Advisory Committee on the basis of a public defense of the dissertation, the decision of which is approved by the Presidium of the SCADT.

The degree of Doctor of Sciences is awarded by the Presidium of the SCADT at the request of academic council of Dissertation Advisory Committee upon the results of the examination of the dissertation.

The title of associate professor (docent) and professor is awarded by the Presidium of the SCADT at the request of academic council of the scientific institution or council (academic council ) of organization.
